Many speakers offer more than a speech; they provide training, consulting, facilitation, coaching and products to add more value to their clients and diversity their business model. This session will explore how facilitation can complement your speaking business and how to position facilitation as a value-added service. You will also receive an in-depth resource to help you propose a package of services to your clients.

  • Define “facilitation” vs. “speaking”
  • Explore the different types of facilitated events that complement your speech

Each participant will receive a customized handout and will have the opportunity to purchase Kristin’s audiobook, Facilitation Skills: Practical Tips & Techniques to Increase Your Effectiveness at the end of her program.

Voice of Experience—Harry Huffman

Body Language: How to Electrify your Audience with Mindful Movement

As speakers, we know the power of visual imagery, the eloquence of the right spoken word and the importance of how to say it. There is, however, another aspect of speaking that is often ignored – the significance of gestures and movement to enhance your spoken message. How do you appear to others as you speak?Do you slump? Do you clench your hands? Do you move like R2D2?

As one of the most successful speaker/dancers on the National Circuit, Harry Huffman, who has tripped the light fantastic for over forty years, wants to share with you what he has learned about the power of mindful movement and how to apply it to your speaking.

Harry Huffman tangoed his way to the top in the dance business, both as a professional dancer and as a million-dollar salesman. This was a far cry from his beginnings as a scrawny Huckleberry Finn from the slate gray walls of a Catholic orphanage. So you might wonder: what does a dancer, an orphan, and a smart-aleck have to tell you about life, speaking and success? The first thing Harry would say is – if you want to dance through life, lead with laughter.

Harry Huffman, a man who is fast on his feet and quick with the quips, will tell you how, with mindful movement, you can enhance your stories to make them unforgettable.

Candidate Connection

The Candidate Connection starts promptly at 12:15 and ends at 1:30 p.m. The session is designed to provide members and Candidates with information and tools necessary to successfully build their speaking business. The format we are using is based on Jim Cathcart’s Eight Professional (Speaker) competencies. All morning attendees are welcome.

Are Your Collateral Materials Leaving Behind Collateral Damage?

Facilitator Vickie Mullins

You’ve worked hard to build your expertise, craft your message, and perfect your speaking skills. But none of that will serve you well if you do a poor job of marketing yourself and your speaking business. Join Vickie as she provides guidelines to creation of collateral materials: the must-have documents and the content that goes on them; when you need a professional and when you can do it yourself; and repurposing your documents as downloads and where those live. Bring your collateral materials with you … we have a couple surprises planned!

Vickie is president of Mullins Creative, Inc., an award-winning graphic design company specializing in print media and multi-page documents. Her vision for the company has remained consistent since its founding in 1991: To treat their clients like family, do more than expected and to give away more smiles than business cards.
