Coaching & Consulting—September 24
NSA-Arizona’s Living Room Forum brings together 15 to 20 NSA-Arizona members (professional and candidates) and friends to share ideas about these areas of expertise: Humor, Consultant/Coaches, Seminar/Workshop, Authors/Publishers. It is an excellent time to get to know each other over a light dinner and great ideas. Each Living Room Forum is held on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.
Coaching & Consulting on Wednesday, September 24, 2008
Facilitator: Dr. Marcia Reynolds
Hostess: Bonnie Mattick, north central Phoenix
The Living Room Forum is starting out with a bang. We are privileged to have Dr. Marcia Reynolds leading us in a discussion of Coaching & Consulting. Marcia is a past president of the Arizona chapter of NSA and has spoken at several of the national conventions; what an exciting time to get together. You will be able to share with Marcia and other colleagues and to have your questions discussed. Zig Ziglar says, “If you help enough other people get what they want, you’ll get what you want.” That’s what coaching does—helps you help them. Come join us in this intimate setting of sharing.
Dr. Marcia Reynolds, CSP is an international speaker and executive coach, a past president of the International Coach Federation and one of only two people who hold both their CSP and MCC (Master Certified Coach). She is on a mission to change people’s minds about leadership so that passion and joy become bottom-line corporate goals.
Coaching is a way of helping people think and see in new ways. We use stories in our speeches to change perspective. We can also use coaching techniques. Question: How can you integrate coaching methods into your speeches to make them more powerful and memorable?
There are many definitions of coaching, from the formal definition by the International Coach Federation to the informal explanations that anyone who “coaches” will give you. Question: How would you define coaching and differentiate it from consulting and motivating?
Not everyone is “coachable” even if they pay you a lot of money for coaching. Question: How can you determine if your coaching relationship will be successful or if this is a “cut and run” situation?
What ways can you use coaching to make your programs stronger and more lucrative?
The Living Room Forum meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month September through November (3rd Wed) and January through May.
