Marcia is a workplace communications expert who specializes in helping leaders build strong relationships and have a breakthrough conversations that change people’s minds. She delivers programs worldwide. Her current passport shows her working in 35 countries in the past 8 years.
She combines 17 years as president of her own leadership development firm, Covisioning, with 16 years holding leadership positions inside companies focused on employee development and organizational transformation. Her experiences give Marcia insight into what blocks communication and innovation and what is needed to bring people together for better results.
She has a doctorate in organizational psychology and two masters degrees in communication and education. She is also a past global president of the International Coach Federation and one of the first 25 people in the world to earn the Master Certified Coach designation.
In her spare time, she writes books and blogs. Her first two books, Outsmart Your Brain and Wander Woman: How High-Achieving Women Find Contentment and Direction, have been quoted in many publications, including Psychology Today, Harvard Management Review, and The New York Times and she has appeared on ABC World News. She has also presented at many universities including Harvard Kennedy School and Cornell University.
Her new book, The Discomfort Zone: How Leaders Turn Difficult Conversations into Breakthroughs was released in 2014 to rave reviews in Fast Company, Fortune, CNN, and Globe and Mail and she was a featured author at Google.
