President’s Message—And the WOW goes on!
WOW was definitely the theme of our February chapter meeting with nearly 60 in attendance. Lynn Rose, the WOWmaker shared her SPEAK formula and did some powerful coaching with members.
Our full morning agenda also included a fun interactive activity facilitated by Dan Shinder. He instructed us to break into groups and created simple quick videos about our NSA-Arizona experiences. Jim Plouffe was our showcase speaker, Roger Rickard shared a nugget of wisdom, and I advocated adding two more E's to our 4 Key Competencies.
As I write this, we are all looking forward to our upcoming workshop, Social Media on Steroids, taught by Dan Shinder. It will not only benefit members who attend, but 100% of all proceeds will remain with our chapter!
We had a full morning, of value, education, and fun – just what Speakers U is all about. Comments from the evaluations include:

KEYNOTE SPEAKER—Building a Multi-million Dollar Speaking/Training/Consulting Business with Bob Pike CSP, CPAE, CPLP Fellow
Do you want a sole practice—or do you want a business that multiplies your impact—and can later be sold? Regardless of your answer, there will be immediate usable content for you to take your business to the next level.
In this session, Bob will share how he positioned himself as an expert long before he had written his first book. You'll receive the proposal process and template that enabled him to write a proposal in 2-1/2 hours that generated over $2.5 million dollars in three years. He'll share the process he's used to write more than 30 books that generate between $30K and $90K in royalties yearly. And he'll reveal his tech side, which included writing and implementing an internet marketing strategy for his business back in 1991!

It's in its 4th edition and the all-time best-selling train-the-trainer book, with over 330,000 copies sold.
His monthly newsletter for training and performance has more than 10,000 readers. More than 125,000 trainers on five continents are graduates of his two day train-the-trainer program.
He is the only person to hold the CSP, CPAE, and CPLP Fellow (Certified Professional in Learning and Performance) designations. In 2007, he received the Instructional Systems Association's "Thought Leader Award." And Training Industry.com named him one of the 20 most influential people in training and performance.

CANDIDATE PROGRAM—GAP: A Speaker's Journey to Success Launched
NSA-Arizona kicked off GAP (Growth Acceleration Process) at the October 14 meeting. GAP is not about speech content or platform skill. It is all about Taking Action and Removing Barriers, something that every speaker could use! GAP consists of seven FREE interactive Zoom sessions dedicated to execution.
- Zoom video sessions on the 1st Wednesday of March, April, May, June (6:50 p.m.–8:30 p.m.)
- GAP Agenda: “Ask the Experts” (30 minutes of sharing by an expert) followed by 60 minutes of Personal Challenges/Commitments & Group Interaction.
Our February 7 meeting featured Barbara McNichol as our expert. Thanks, Barbara, for so graciously sharing your tips, knowledge and expertise on editing books with us. Our next meeting will be March 7, with Doug Stevenson. He'll share his story about how he overcame challenges to reach his level of speaking success.
NOTE: Our April meeting will be on April 11 (second Wednesday instead of the first Wednesday of the month). Naomi Rhode, one of our treasured chapter members, will join us to share her wisdom about speaking success.

“We don’t present our voices to the audience, we resonate our souls.” —Thomas Hampson As speakers, we want to resonate with our audiences. We want to be on the same wavelength as that audience as we share our thoughts and feelings. NSA-Arizona provides an opportunity for you to have amazing support and feedback from skilled evaluators. They help improve the resonance of your message with your audience. We include feedback guidelines not just for the evaluators, but also for the speakers. This helps to provide supportive, constructive, and relevant advice.
Is there an area of your speaking or your speaking business that would benefit from some feedback? Come join us at Speakers Lab. Experience the valuable feedback and encouragement to help you improve in any area of the speaking business.
No RSVP is required to attend. We meet the second and fourth Tuesdays from 9:30-11:45 A.M. at NSA headquarters. However, to speak at the Lab, you must be a chapter member in good standing.
We ask that you attend as a participant twice, before you sign up for time to speak. In a normal meeting, we have three 30-minute slots. Speakers can use the time to receive feedback and tips for a specific purpose, like trying out new material or trying a new form of speaking.

Do you ever confuse this word pair? Now you know the difference so you won't get tripped up!
Every day, everyday – In the two-word adverbial phrase, “day” refers to the time between sunrise and sunset; “every” describes the word day. “Every day we call our customers.” Everyday (without a space) is an adjective that precedes the noun it describes. “It’s an everyday occurrence.”

Why Bother Getting Social Media "Right"?
There are a few reasons to get it right, beginning with cultivating and growing your fan base. It also allows you to expand your opportunities for online and offline sales and partnerships, and broaden your media and "influencer" coverage. Depending on what you do, it helps with increasing your sponsorship, publishing and other opportunities, and so much more.
Social Media IS the most effective—meaning direct, measurable, and least costly—path to YOUR bottom line. You can learn to do it effectively and organically without ever paying for ads or boosting posts. You need “Social Proof.” This happens when you attract tens or hundreds of thousands of followers in love with what you do. Not only do they become clients, but they champion your brand as well.
In a nutshell, the blunt truth is that this is how the world works. Those who do not “adapt” will absolutely be left behind. Even if you plan to hire the work out, you have to first embrace social media and learn what works and why. Only then can you vet the right service provider.
