Media Presence with Elisabeth Leamy

NOTHING beats being interviewed in the mass media to establish instant credibility and raise your profile as a speaker. 13-time Emmy-winner Elisabeth Leamy will give us step-by-step instructions for getting positive press coverage.

She will teach you:

  • How to find the RIGHT journalist to approach.
  • Where to find those journalists’ email addresses —in 5 minutes or less.
  • The EXACT email subject line to use so journalists open and read your story pitch.
  • A template with the 5 things to put in your pitch that will get you a "yes" instead of a “no.”
  • How to get interviewed just once, but have your story appear in dozens of media outlets.

Wouldn t you love to slap a bunch of as seen on” media logos on your website? This program is packed with fun quizzes to help you think like a journalist.  Elisabeth with also guide us in group exercises, so you leave with your pitch already in progress.

Elisabeth Leamy is best known for her decade of work as the on-air Consumer Correspondent for ABC’s Good Morning America.  Elisabeth also served as investigative correspondent for the Dr. Oz Show for many years.  In addition, she authored a weekly column and still writes occasionally for the Washington Post.  In other words, she knows what works, because she knows what pitches worked on her!

BONUS! While working in the fast-paced world of news, Elisabeth developed a method of prioritizing her projects that allowed her to work smarter instead of harder, which she credits with helping her break important stories and win prestigious awards.  She now shares her system with executives so that they can do better work with less effort.  As a special bonus, Elisabeth will teach us some of her counterintuitive techniques, including why you should NOT always do your best.

Elisabeth Leamy is a nationally-known journalist, a critically acclaimed author and a nationwide speakerClick here to learn more about Elisabeth.

Getting Your Voice Heard: How to Become a Successful Paid Speaker | 12:15 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Speaker: Beth Terry, CSP®

Topic: Writing Better Speeches Faster

Writing a speech is like planning a trip.
You need to know where you're going in order to know where to start.

Beth Terry, CSP®, crafted a system for creating great and powerful presentations in record time. As speakers we may have to change course at the last minute. It's helpful to know how to do this.

Beth first created this system when she was at a convention and realized as she spoke with the attendees they had zero interest in her topic. She thought she had spoken with the right people beforehand, but it turns out the meeting planner had not surveyed the attendees. It happens. She tossed her handouts, went out into the garden and wrote an entirely new talk in 20 minutes.

Beth's "pearl necklace" plan will serve you whether you are writing a five-minute presentation, a 20-minute keynote, or a one week seminar for your clients. When using this for longer presentations, it’s useful to first think about the overall presentation’s goal, and then break it down into sections of 45-50 minute mini-speeches.

About Beth: Beth Terry has been active in speaking for 50 years. She has been a member of NSA since 1989, and has presented to half a million people in 6 countries. She was the Chair of the Candidate program for 5 years, President of NSA-AZ in 2005-2006, and National Director of the Academy for two years. Her New Year's gift for attendees at this presentation includes several of her organizational and tracking forms to make your speaking business rock!

Members and Candidates welcome! You MUST be registered for the monthly program to attend Getting Your Voice Heard or Professional Opportunity. Offered in-person only.
