    NSA-Arizona Projects Lab

    Project Lab 2022: First Quarter

What is it? A casual, virtual co-working support space

    Why do it?

    • Bursts of focused work with breaks promote productivity and reduce stress.
    • Focus intently on a project, content development, marketing, pitching, operational or administrative processes etc.
    • It’s an opportunity to ask for feedback, share resources and support each other’s work
    • During the highly productive segments, you’re muted with your video on or off

How long is it? 2 hours, once weekly

    When is it? Monday from 12:00 p.m. -2:00 p.m.

    • Project lab may be expanded to an additional day and time if Monday participation merits expansion

    Project Lab Flow:

    Start at 12:00 p.m.

    • Welcome new participants to introduce themselves
    • Each person shares their project, challenge or goal for the lab time

Facilitator schedules a 50-minute work session

    • Take a break and share progress, ask any questions, share any related resources
    • A 40–50-minute work session is scheduled
    • Topics or conversations that require more time can continue via the chat or participants can stay on zoom after the scheduled end time and continue supporting each other

The Hosts are Marla Harr and Michele Redmond.

    NSA-Arizona Speaker Coaching YOU

Want to feel like this at the start of your next presentation?

”You are only one minute into your presentation, and you can already feel the eyes of your audience glued upon you, focused on what you have to say. Somehow, you and/or your topic is commanding attention, and your audience is hanging on your every word. They are exuding a positive anticipation for whatever is coming next. Feels good, doesn’t it? You say to yourself, “Wow! I am really meeting their needs!”

This description of your opening is what we are working toward at NSA-AZ’s Speaker Coaching YOU. Participants are working together to give feedback, offer enriching suggestions, and thereby help each other create an opening of a speech or seminar, or other event where they are comfortable charging a $5000 fee. We have created a specific checklist for preparing and evaluating presentation openings. We will work on other speech parts as well.

If you want to attend: Please register, or just show up and learn vicariously!

If you want to present: Contact Rita ASAP and request a place on the list. ritahudgens@gmail.com

If you want to practice for an upcoming booked speech: Also contact Rita and we will try to slot you in ASAP for 15 minutes.

In addition to continuing to provide practice opportunities for openings, we will transition to “First Point” after your opening for those wanting to practice that material. We will see what our attendees needs and desires are at the end of each Studio and adjust our schedule of content to meet them.

Don Thoren, a Lab founder and Lab leader for its first 14 years, has been asked to help reinvent a post COVID Lab experience for the benefit of our members. Don is a CMC, CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame, and named to the class of 2012 Legends of the Speaking Profession. He is among the founders of NSA and both a Chapter and National Past President.

Jim and I attended the last session and it was amazing!! Don is GREAT at leading this...and the privilege of having some platform time with constructive feedback is priceless!! Don't miss this. We will both be at as many as possible!— Naomi Rhode
